Watercolor West Demonstration Series: Christopher Schink
Christopher Schink will discuss and illustrate how Cezanne, Picasso and Matisse changed the direction of painting in the 20th Century and how their modern ideas have affected watercolor painters both in the past and for years to come. He will also present a short program on his own development and approach to painting in watermedia, with a watercolor demonstration and discussion of his style and approach to the medium.

Watercolor West Demonstration Series: Juror Katherine Chang Liu
This year's juror Katherine is renowned for exhibiting, curating and jurying around the world. As a non-objective painter, Katherine entices viewers with her abstract paintings that hint at the "unfinished state of things." Her work encourages viewers to practice introspection, examine the past and to slow down in general. During her presentation, she will be discussing this year's exhibition selections, followed by a lecture on contemporary landscape, figurative and abstract painters.

Watercolor West Demonstration Series: Sean Barrett
Sean Barrett is an award winning Southern California based watercolorist. Through his vivid contemporary approach to watercolors, he challenges himself to paint a story within each painting. Striving to communicate emotion to the viewer, Sean often conveys hope as a central theme throughout his paintings, finding the beauty in any subject matter, no matter how mundane or unconventional.

Watercolor West Demonstration Series: Shuang Li
Shuang Li was born, raised and classically trained in China. She paints watercolor, both plein-air and in studio and focuses on portraying nature's lights, moods and moments with her unique visual expression. She believes a plein air sketch not only records on-location exploration and observation, but that it also brings back memories of dramatic mood and movement of the location. Her demonstration will show how to turn fresh plein air sketches into a well-designed studio painting.
